What are some cheap wedding ideas for a fall wedding in Oct. when money is tight?

Question by Dreamer362011: What are some affordable wedding ideas for a fall wedding in Oct. when money is air-tight?
We dwell in Ohio and an outside wedding in Oct. isn’t an option. What are some affordable things we can do? Money is very air-tight and would love to have a conventional wedding in a building with a reception with bounding and a DJ. Any ideas? Also how much money do you think it would cost. We were thinking of having like blistering dogs, cheeseburgers, chicken, cheese, pickles. ect. And cupcakes instead of cake. Thanks for any ideas!

Instead of hot dogs and hamburgers, which is summer picnic food in my mind, why not go with an Italian menu. Italian is relatively inexpensive and people tend to really enjoy it. I would find a good local Italian restaurant and inquire about ordering trays. My family loves Italian and we often order trays of chicken and ziti for family events, instead of cooking. I believe that a $ 60 tray of chicken serves about 20 people, at my local Italian place. But, I’m closer to New York, so this prices might be a bit inflated and it might be less expensive where you are in Ohio.

Italian goes with the more traditional reception you want to create. I also find that people are more satisfied eating a piece of chicken and some ziti than a hamburger. The cupcakes instead of cake is a good alternative too.

You can put together an entire wedding, including sit down dinner and cake, for under $ 500. The food will be the most expensive part, but if you’ve got a group of girlfriends that like to cook, they can all chip in. Remember to buy in bulk. Aside from food, the most expensive part comes from renting a location. People drop thousands of dollars on renting some fancy place for a few hours. Tip: rent cheap, then go to wal*mart fabric section and buy bolts of tulle cheap, and places like Big Lots for other decorations. White christmas lights on tulle are very pretty. You can make a school gym look awesome with the right decorations, and all for under like $ 50. You can be your own DJ if you have Windows Media Player and playlists. If you have a DJ friend or know someone w/ good speakers, just hook up the speakers to your computer and have someone sit there at the table with it to make sure it plays the music right. Glue junk CD’s together with the shiny side out and a ribbon in the middle and hang them on the ceiling for some cool decorations and an awesome lighting effect. If you don’t want to pay a photographer, a friend of mine bought disposable cameras and put one in the center of every table for her guests to use. She got some really cool photos.

The word CHEAP should not be used when you are describing your wedding. A wedding is a dignified event, it is supposed to be a very special day in your life, and when you use the word CHEAP to describe it, you have degraded this very special day to something that is measured in $ $ $ and cents, and has very little meaning to you. When you tell your friends and family members that you are having a CHEAP wedding, you are telling them it’s OK to give you CHEAP wedding gifts.

    That being said . . here’s a few lost cost ideas . .

Get married in the morning and follow that ceremony with a breakfast or brunch. Breakfast is the least expensive FULL meal you can serve your guests. Plus you do not have to serve any alcoholic beverages except a champagne toast to the Bride and Groom.

Get married at sunset or after 7PM. Your guests have already eaten dinner so you can serve “just desserts” with wedding cake OR a variety of sandwiches and salads with wedding cake.

Just have a Maid of Honor and a Best Man. You only have to buy one more bouquet and one more boutonniere plus two THANK YOU gifts. The average price of a bridesmaid’s bouquet is $ 50 to $ 75.

If you wish to purchase wedding cupcakes for your wedding guests then order a small two tiered wedding cake for cutting and photographs for YOU, the Bride and Groom.

If your budget is limited then go to Craig’s List to find wedding vendors and professional services. Many of these service providers (wedding cake bakers, photographers, caterers, and DJs) are just starting out in business or have full time jobs so their fees are less than a full time professional. But just keep this in mind . . you get what you pay for. Don’t do business with any service provider who will not give you some type of written contract.

Eliminate all wedding day accessories. For example: guest book and feather pen, candle sets, flower girl basket, ring bearer pillow, garter, and table favors. Just what do you do with a ring bearer’s pillow the day after the wedding?

Bowls of assorted candy can be substituted for floral centerpieces in the center of each reception table. Put bags or boxes next to the bowls of candy so your guests can help themselves. By doing this your saving money on flowers and eliminating “cutsie” table favors.
