Where to Start your Wedding Planning

When you are first engaged, you may experience both excited and whelmed by the task before.  Wedding planning is a vast job; it is with full reason that most couples move about a year to plan and fix!  Not only are there fiscal considerations, but also all the details of wedding planning from booking a venue to taking the flowers can move an outstanding deal of time.  Right after the proposal, it is time to start planning!  If you aren’t certain where to commence when you are first engaged, hither are some tips.

Recruit help.

A great place to start is by letting family and friends know you are engaged.  Of course, you will be too excited to keep it to yourself, but this is more than just an announcement.  You need to start lining up some help with the wedding planning duties.  The first people to get on board when you are first engaged will likely be you parents.  If they are planning to provide financial aid for the wedding budget, this is an important factor in the rest of your plans.  You will also need to select a Maid of Honour and Best Man relatively quickly, as they will have major roles in wedding planning.

Set the date.

Before you can even see your venue, you will taken to have a date set.  Although it can be difficult to decide on something so far off when you are first engaged, there is no way to know if the venues that interest you are available without a date.  Once you cognize when your wedding will take place, you can proceed with all kinds of other wedding planning details such as booking a church or other ceremony location, booking a reception hall, and booking your wedding entertainment.

Start the guest list.

While this might change as you proceed through the wedding planning process, you will need a general idea of how many people you plan to invite.  This is an important number to know when making all kinds of decisions from the size of the venue to the type of wedding you can afford to hold.  Although you will likely add a few people or even remove from the time you are first engaged, you need a basic number to work with.

Book the venues.

Now that the date is set, you should go ahead with the most important part of wedding planning and reserve the locations for both the ceremony and the reception.  The most popular places will clutter up fast, so to get your choice, you will need to book when you are first engaged.  Otherwise, you risk having to go to your second or third choice.  When you choose your locations, bear in mind the number of people you expect to have at your wedding and make sure your venue is neither too small nor too large.

When you are first engaged, it may seem you have all the time in the world for wedding planning, but once that date is set, it will come quickly!  Get started right away with these basic details, and the rest will go smoothly.
